Responsibilities of Authors

Duties of Authors
Authors submitting to the International Medical Research Journal (IMRJ) are expected to conduct and report their research honestly, accurately, and in accordance with recognised scientific and ethical standards. Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct of the work submitted for publication.
01   Reporting Standards
Authors should provide an accurate and objective account of the research performed and present the results honestly. The manuscript should contain sufficient methodological detail and appropriate references to allow other researchers to understand and, where applicable, replicate the work.
Fabrication, falsification, inappropriate manipulation of data, or deliberate omission of problematic findings is unacceptable. Information obtained privately must not be used without explicit permission from the individual or source concerned.
Where identifiable patient photographs or images are included, appropriate written permission must be obtained. In the absence of such permission, the patient's identity must be adequately obscured before publication.
02   Manuscript Submission
All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) online submission platform. First-time users are required to register and create an account before submitting a manuscript. The online submission system facilitates manuscript processing, peer review, editorial communication, and final editorial decisions.
03   Originality
Submission of a manuscript to IMRJ confirms that:
  • The work represents original material produced by the authors.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published as an article, proceeding, symposium paper, or book chapter, except where the work has appeared as an abstract, published lecture, or academic thesis.
  • The manuscript is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • All authors are aware of and have approved the submission and potential publication of the manuscript in IMRJ.
04   Plagiarism and Similarity
Authors must ensure that the submitted work is their own and that all sources, ideas, words, data, and intellectual contributions from others are appropriately acknowledged and cited. Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and inappropriate duplication of previously published work are unacceptable.
Authors are required to conduct a similarity check and submit a plagiarism or similarity report during manuscript submission. The manuscript should have a similarity index of less than 20%. Manuscripts with a similarity index of 20% or higher may be rejected.
Plagiarism includes presenting another person's work or ideas as one's own, copying or substantially paraphrasing material without appropriate acknowledgement, claiming another researcher's findings as one's own, or using published or unpublished intellectual property without proper citation or permission.
05   Self-Plagiarism and Redundancy
Authors should avoid reusing identical or substantially similar sentences, paragraphs, data, or other material from their previous publications without appropriate acknowledgement. Producing multiple manuscripts that contain substantially similar content without disclosure of related publications or manuscripts may constitute self-plagiarism or redundant publication. Authors should appropriately cite their previous work whenever relevant.
06   Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors must not submit the same or substantially similar manuscript, in whole or in part, to more than one journal simultaneously. A manuscript under review by IMRJ must not be submitted elsewhere until an editorial decision has been made or the manuscript has been formally withdrawn. Resubmission following rejection or withdrawal from another journal is acceptable, provided that the manuscript is no longer under consideration by that publication.
07   Acknowledgement of Sources
Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite publications that have influenced the reported research. Verbatim material should be clearly identified and appropriately cited, while paraphrased or summarised material must also include proper attribution. Appropriate acknowledgement should be given to all relevant sources in accordance with accepted scholarly publishing practices.
08   Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research. Individuals who have contributed substantially should be listed as co-authors, while those who provided other forms of assistance may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgement section.
One author must be designated as the Corresponding Author and will be responsible for communication with the journal and coordination among co-authors. All authors must agree to the authorship order and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission. All authors share responsibility and accountability for the published work.
09   Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors should disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. Relevant sources of financial support should also be appropriately acknowledged or disclosed.
Author Responsibility
By submitting a manuscript to IMRJ, all authors confirm that the work is original, accurately reported, ethically conducted, appropriately acknowledged, and approved by all listed authors. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of their submitted and published work.
